Dorset Heath (Erica ciliaris)

Once you know the main three, Bell Heather, Cross Leaved Heath and Ling then you will recognise an occasional plant much the same but quite different!

Dorset Heath is a nationally rare plant but it can be locally frequent in the Purbeck area of Dorset. It does also occur in South Devon and Cornwall but Dorset is its stronghold.

A heather that like it damp but not wet. It tends to grow taller than Bell Heather and has more flowers than Cross Leaved Heath. Flowers from July to September.
